The Sarah The Sitter Team

Sarah Chahy

Owner & Pet Care Specialist

I'm the person at the party who bypasses the hostess and, instead, makes a beeline for the resident pet. For as long as I can remember, I've felt a connection to all animals; they are the purest creatures on this planet, and I find it absolutely amazing that we are able to walk alongside them.

With a Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies and a Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management, I worked in various professional roles for years, ranging from Sales Support Rep to Business Administrator to IT Trainer and finally IT Business Analyst.  I started pet sitting many years ago for friends and family as a side hobby and soon realized my referrals were flooding in! In 2019 I finally decided to make the leap, leaving my full time position in IT to pursue my passion for animal care. Over the past few years, I've been absolutely blessed with the most amazing clients and feel lucky every day to call this my job. I love each and every client as though they are my own.

As Sarah The Sitter, it is my goal and my team's goal to provide the best possible care for both your home and your loved ones while you're away. As a frequent traveler myself, who has a beloved 19 year old kitty, Miss Pirate (pictured), I understand how important it is to know that your furry friends are being properly cared for, so from dog walking to cat cuddles to medicine administration to litter box cleanup to plant watering to mail pickup, we're here to tackle all 'the things' so you can remain worry-free.

We look forward to caring for your furbabies!

Jolene Spannuth

Pet Care Specialist

Hello! I’m Jolene and I’m excited to be a part of the Sarah The Sitter Team!

My husband and I currently reside in Rocky River with our slightly spoiled and very chatty cat, Clark. We are long time clients of Sarah’s and appreciate the love and care she provides to Clark. We have never felt more at ease leaving Clark while we are away than when Sarah is caring for him. We still miss him but knowing how much she loves him, how much he loves her (sometimes I’m a little jealous), and seeing him in updates makes it a little easier to be away. I look forward to providing that same level of care to your pets!

I have a background in healthcare, managed IT services, and project management. I grew up with dogs, cats, horses, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, lizards, and the occasional goat. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, time outdoors, snowboarding, watching reruns of Law and Order, and snuggling with any animals I can.

I have been a volunteer at Friendship APL in Elyria for 4.5 years and enjoy it immensely. Myself, and another friend and volunteer, currently lead a pack walk once a week and teach Dog Walking 101 three times per month to new volunteers who wish to interact directly with the dogs. The class is a “shelter edition” in that it provides training regarding walking dogs specifically at FAPL. Volunteers learn to safely take dogs in and out of kennels and in and out of the building, how to use appropriate collars and leashes for the safety of the dogs and to prevent dogs from becoming loose, how to respond appropriately in various situations and interactions, and much more. Essentially, be provided the information, tools, and support they need to safely work with the dogs onsite and enjoy volunteering.

FAPL has a partnership with Grafton Correctional Institute in which dogs learn basic commands over 8-12 weeks, on-site at GCI. I was fortunate to be taught those basic commands to help canine graduates of the program maintain and/or continue to improve those skills while they are waiting to be adopted. I am not a trainer, however, I enjoy attending training webinars to advance my knowledge of different training methods. If your pet knows any commands or are working on new skills, I would love to hear about them in an effort to maintain consistency and help them be successful.

I look forward to meeting you and your pets!
